Annually ECRAF organises a 3-days congress, normally performed in September. The congresses are hosted by an ECRAF member. To limit the outlay the hosting naton changes every year.

Congress 2020 - webinar - 08-09 September 2020

Due to the covid-19 spread through Europe the options to exchange knowledge in the roadsafety area has diminished and changed. But ECRAF and road safety always tries tocontribute to improvement and to find new roads to reach our goal; to be a competenceorganization where experts gather and exchange their knowledge.  The ECRAF Congress 2020 done for the first time by using MS Teams application for webinar.on 08-09 September 2020..

This two days event was meeting of  19 representatives from 11 ECRAF member nation (BEL, BIH, DEU, DNK, ESP, FIN, ISR, NLD, SVK, SWE, UK).

Congress 2019 in Poland 09-13 September 2019

ECRAF Congress 2019 took place in Gdansk, Poland from 09th to 13th September 2019 with participation 27 delegates from 16 nations.

The main topics were:

  1. Current challenges in the field of Road Safety in European Armed Forces
  2. Possibilities to harmonize driver education, car safety and military driving rules to get Military Road Safety standards

Congress 2019

Besides presentaions from Polish road safety institutions, both, civilian and military, there were presentation from 12 nations, with many interesting information regarding road safety in military.

ECRAF General Assembly in Gdansk on 12th September 2019 has some conclusions which will take effect in ECRAF future work.

New elected ECRAF President Johan PIHLSTRÖM (SWE) will lead ECRAF in next two years (2019 to 2021), togehter with Vice-President Joni TAUNILA (FIN).

Henrik VINTHER (DNK) was appointed as ECRAF Secretary for next two years (2019-2021).

The General Assembly expressed its gratitude for the former President LTC Jan ŠEVČIK (CZE) and Secretary of LTC Aleksandar GOŠIĆ (SRB) for their leadership of ECRAF in previous years. Also, the General Assembly paid special thanks and recognition to Mr. Guy COLMAN (BEL) for his many years of contribution to the work of ECRAF, as MR.Guy COLMAN leaves active duty and retires.

Successful Congress 2018 in Belgium 10-14 September 2018

ECRAF Congress 2018 took place in Brussels and Bruges, Belgium from 10th to 14th September 2018. The main topic was "Current challenges in the field of Road Safety in European Armed Forces". Sub-topics are every other relevant topics regarding Road Safety: Sensibilisation of personnel – Lessons learned – Best practices – Projects – Training – Prevention – Enforcement – Engineering – Regulations.

The Congress was successful with participation of 22 delegates from 14 countries. Romania and Luxembourg were new observers with hope to become full member of ECRAF.

ECRAF 2018 1

The first day of Congress was organized in Royal Military Academy, where representatives of European institutions (ETSC, EC – DG MOVE, EU - OSHA), The Flemish Government and The Belgian Armed Forces presented projects and work in the field of Road safety. The second day seven national presentations were presented with discussions of participants.

ECRAF General Assembly in Bruges on 13th September 2018 has some conclusions which will take effect in ECRAF future work. Israel was elected as full member of ECRAF. Romania and Luxembourg will send official request to ECRAF for membership. Also, ECRAF President Jan Ševčík (CZE) will continue mandate for one year, and new Vice-president is Joni Taunila (FIN) instead of Petri Manelius (FIN) who has to leave ECRAF due to new position in The Finnish Defence Forces. EC member from Poland will be Sławomir Łazarek as Host Nation Representative, who has presented brief information about the next congress.

Besides official program, there were social events like visiting the city of Brussels, the city of Bruges, Bruges Military Province Command, Battlefield tour WWI. Belgium was a great host for this well-organized Congress.
